PINOY CHAMP STAGES BODYBUILDING TILT
THE first in a series of bodybuilding competitions organized by world champion Jerick Ternida will be held on Feb. 13 in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.
Dubbed `Jerick Ternida Classic’, the meet will feature around 100 bodybuilding enthusiasts around the country vying for cash prizes and trophies in four different divisions (three weight categories and novice).
Starting at 6 p.m. the contest, which Ternida also referred to as `Ginoong Valentino bodybuilding championships, serves as the opener of a nationwide series of tournaments culminating in a national championship to be held before the year ends.
“Iipunin natin lahat ng magiging champions kada leg in one big national championship, where we hope to raise a total of P1 million prizes to be staked,” said Ternida in Tuesday’s PSA Forum at the Shakey’s U.N. Avenue branch.
Ternida, 37, is a former national team member and the first Filipino to win the middleweight division and overall Muscle Mania Universe title in 2008 in Miami, Florida.
He is also a six-time Mr. Philippines titleholder.
The bodybuilding champion added in the same session presented by Outlast Battery, PAGCOR, Accel and Shakey’s, that the next leg will be held in Rizal this summer, before the event goes down South later in the year.
Ternida, whose being sponsored by PAGCOR, expects a total of 500 entries competing in the national championship.
“Hopefully, maging annual competition na ito,” he said.
